I’ve begun to think that my boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend is literally crazy. We’ve been together for a year and half now, and she is still obsessively sending text messages, IMing, calling, writing letters, and badmouthing me at every possible turn. Her problem is not really with you. Her problem is with him for being with you. Therefore, only he can drive home the message to her to get lost.
Tell your friends that you are trying to take the high road but this woman keeps harassing you. Put on a brave face for them. If they know her attacks are unprovoked they’ll start feeling sorry for you and take your side.
If she gets out of hand and starts calling you constantly, that’s harassment. Tell her you’ll report her to the police if she doesn’t leave you alone. (Don’t contact her to say this. Wait until she contacts you. That way she won’t be able to say you provoked her.) You can also get a restraining order against her if she’s targeting you.
