How can a grown educated person truly believe that just because a step mom isn't the biological mom that she should just sit on the sidelines when she can provide valuable support and knowledge to a child. How can it possibly hurt for a step parent to attend a parent teacher confernce? The only person it is hurting is the jealous spouse who can't put the child's well being first. If a child lives equally in two households then shouldn't both of those household's have parent teacher confernce. If you can do them together then so be it and if not then do it separately. I have read a number of posts that talk about how "they would be offended". I haven't ready one comment by those individuals that have said the child would be offended. That's because the child would never be offended because the child most likely would love for all parties to be participating in their education and extra curricular activities. Now I know your all thinking I must be a step parent, but truthfully I am not. I am a remarried father who shares joint custody with my ex wife who happens to also be married. If I had one wish it would be that her husband would participate more and that my ex wife would feel the same about my wife. My ex wife thinks like many of the selfish people (many not all) do on this site. She thinks my wife should just sit on the sidelines and do as she is told when it comes to helping to raise her step daughter. I refuse to allow my ex wife to control me anymore and I allow my wife to participate in whatever she is comfortable with. My wife and I have another daughter together and we do not opperate our house with different rules and guidelines for each child. Each child is treated the same and loved the same. My ex wife is due to have a baby in a week or two....I wonder if she will see what I am talking about once that new baby comes into their house or if she will remain jaded and ignorant to what is best for our daughter.
